Partnership READ Partnership READ (UIC)
Parnership READ is a collaborative project between UIC and the Chicago Public School system to improve literacy. (Win 2005). This standards-based website uses CSS positioning for layout, validates as XHTML transitional and is Section 508 (Accessibility) compliant. (Winter 2005).

Design and implementation of online presence in support of John Kerry for President -- initially in the Chicagoland area and later for the entire state of Illinois (Summer-Fall 2004).

This exhibit looks at the development of CUNY's preeminent school of Business and Public Administration in the context of City University itself, of New York City, and of events, people and places from further a field. (Fall 2002).
Newman Library News Newman Library News
One of the earliest implementations of a blog using an RSS feed in a library context.  Blogger was used to write and publish the posts while on the library-side, the XML was converted to HTML for automatic incorporation into library web pages.  The article was added automatically to the News Section, the headline appeared on the library's home page and an RSS file was created for syndication. (Baruch College Library, CUNY, Winter 2002)

Beecher Tradition The Beecher Tradition
First in a series of exhibits based on the theme, 'the American Family'. The Beecher Tradition looks at this noted family from Lyman Beecher (1775-1853) to Charlotte Perkins Gilman (1860-1935). Text and Image selection by Baruch Archivist, Prof. Sandra Roff. Featured in the April 4, 2001 issue of the Scout Report. (Baruch College Library, CUNY, Spr. 2001).

This was the "web component" of Sixties Design. The idea was to present the user with various forms of media--particularly in this case RealAudio and RealVideo--in something other than a list. Done for "Interactive Design" (ITP, NYU; Spr. 1999; Shockwave and Real G2).

This, together with Redscare (1918-1920), was featured in the April 6, 1999 issue of the Scout Report. It is also featured as a "Best Web site" in Africa Encarta's article on Native Americans. This started out as a project while at library school at Queens College, CUNY (Spr. '97). It is now available through Newman Library's Digital Collections. This, together with African-Native Americans, was featured in the April 6, 1999 issue of the Scout Report. It was also a "Yahoo Pick of the Web" for April 12, 1999.
Red Scare Applet Red Scare Applet (proof of concept)Mechanism to search for and define objects in a collection of images. 'Hat' or 'flag' or 'bomb', for example, could be defined in a image. These descriptors plus the rect coordinates would be entered into a database and could later be searched against to find all images with hats, flags or bombs. Collaborative work with Effie Baram (Java 1.2, JDBC, SQL). (ITP, Fall 1998)
Bobsts and Beyond Bobst and Beyond
The origin of Bobst and Beyond was a publication by the same name put out by NYU's Graduate School of Art and Sciences in 1994. It is a guide to doing research in New York and consists of tips and advice together with a directory of research institutions in the area. (Shockwave 5).

Plague London : 1665 : Year of Plague
Based on the novel Journal of the Plague Year by Daniel Defoe, this demo using Macromedia's Flash creates the framework for looking at the period through various aspects including history, culture and art. Done as a final project for "Electronic Publishing" (Sum '98) at the Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP), Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. (Flash 2.0) (screenshots here).
